carnegiea-gigantea-giant-saguaro-cactus-seeds
Carnegiea gigantea - Giant Saguaro Cactus Seeds

Carnegiea gigantea - the Giant Saguaro - is the iconic columnar cactus of the Sonoran Desert and the state flower of Arizona. Native to a narrow band of low-elevation desert across southern Arizona, southeastern California, and Sonora, Mexico, this slow-growing giant can reach 40+ feet tall and live over 150 years. Mature plants develop their famous arms after 50-75 years and produce large creamy-white flowers in late spring, followed by red edible fruit. We harvest seed locally from our Sonoran Desert habitat - the exact ecosystem where saguaros evolved.

Germination is easy. Surface-sow on a fine cactus mix, keep warm (80-85F) and lightly moist with humidity, and expect germination in 7-14 days. Seedlings are tiny and slow but extremely rewarding to grow.

What you'll receive: Fresh seeds hand-harvested from our own pollinated parent plants, with a germination guarantee. Growing instructions and germination guidance included with every order. Photos show mature parent plants and/or seedlings for reference.

We're a small family nursery in Blythe, California, growing in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Those plants are grown overseas - often in large commercial greenhouses - then have their roots trimmed for export and spend weeks or months in transit before being resold to the end buyer. They arrive with reduced root systems that need time to rebuild before the plant can really get going again.

Our plants were grown here, by us, with their roots intact from day one.

Shipping & Guarantee

Orders ship within 1 business day, Monday-Friday

Live arrival guarantee on all plants

Germination guidance included with every seed order

Damage / Issues

If something looks off in the first week, please message us with a clear photo BEFORE you cut, scrape, repot, or otherwise intervene with the plant.
