Seed season is here, and the Melocactus are loaded.
Melocactus are some of the strangest cacti we grow. Once a plant matures it stops growing its body and builds a woolly cap called a cephalium on top. All the flowers — and the bright pink, finger-shaped fruit full of seed — come out of that cap.

Fresh seed from our plants is available now:
Melocactus don't like cold. Keep seedlings above about 55°F through winter. Our seed-growing guide covers the rest.
