Astrophytum capricorne var. senilis — "old man" — carries so many long, twisted, hair-like spines that the body almost disappears beneath them. A Chihuahuan Desert native prized by collectors, it produces yellow flowers with a red throat from spring through summer.

Moderate to easy. Germination in 7–21 days at 75–85°F.
